The vacuum would be a decent vacuum if it weren't for a serious design flaw on the agitator brush. The bearings on the ends of the brush can't handle the speed/heat of the vacuum and melt and seize. This happens to everyone who owns this vacuum sooner or later. Mine happened in less than a year. There are plastic peices holding the bearings in! Plastic guys, seriously... this is the one part of the machine that should absulutely be made of metal. I'm talking about 1.25" of metal would make this vacuum last forever and probably cost like an extra dollar over the plastic peices? Comon Sears... and the part cost me over 50 dollars to have shipped to my house. Also, the small electronic attachment wand for doing stairs, etc broke after about 5 uses. When I ordered the part, I figured sears would have an upgraded part because of complaints, but no... it's still the same plastic that should not be near that kind of heat. I bought this Kenmore because my parents owned one when...

I love my Kenmore Canister Vacuum! It is an amazing piece of quality.I love the on board attachments because i have stiars,hardwood floors and rugs.the powernozzle is great because it lets me adjust the pile height.I also love the telescoping wand because sometimes my kids vacuum their own bedrrom.My canister vacuum has lasted for over 5 years so far.Even when hurricane IRENE was coming it flooded my basement and it flooded my entire vacuum.But when i took it upstiars it worked perfect.THATS WHY I LOVE MY KENMORE!!!!!

This is my second Sears Kenmore Canister vacuum, my first one lasted 7 years and was still working ,its just the attachments and parts were falling apart. Since that one lasted so long I bought another one just like it. and sorry to say its failed in all areas. First the cord is like breaking apart in all areas and I do not even suck it back in the vacuum all the time, so I know that is not it. I have never seen a cord fall apart like this one. In fact its to the point of dangerous & Should be recalled. Also the beater brush runs intermittently. Again, I think its the cord construction. And the electric upholstery's beater brush is also not working .I take care of my vacuums and always keep the inside clean and filters clean and never use it when the bag is too full. I also never let the beater brushes get clogged up with hair, string etc. I have owned other vacuum's like a Rainbow and have a Kirby in my attic (parts are too expensive and is way too heavy) I also owned an Electrolux...

We have 2 of these units. Both have shorted out at the top of the handle. Melted the rubber and zapped both me and my wife and almost started a fire. I sent both pictures and letters to Sears about this and they ignored all correspondence. I can't view this type of problem as normal wear and tear and would not recommend this vaccumn.

Love this machine! I have two and really like the features! The extended wand, the extra cord, the indicator dirt light, the light on the end of the wand are all really appreciated. The little vacuum mate comes in handy for doing furniture, stairs, even curtains! I use both my vacuums on a regular basis, one on each floor and when I am done, I know my floors are clean. I really like the canister style because you can get to places an upright doesn't reach and changing heads is sooo much easier. This model has an awesome cleaning power that can't be beat. I had a Kirby in the past and this is so much better. The weight alone great but the thing I like best is being able to change from bare floor to carpet quickly. Thanks Sears!

I have two kids and two black cats with a white carpet (silly, I know!). This vacuum is very easy to use and sweeps up even the biggest messes my kids can make. We looked around for a while for a new vacuum and have always trusted Kenmore products. This vacuum did not disappoint and it stood up to its name!

I actually own last years model and I love it. Great suction and cleaning. I bought this vac to replace a Hoover windtunnel upright and a Oreck upright. Would I buy a Progressive Canister Vac again - most certainly. I've bought the expensive Brand name models throughout the years and always return to Kenmore....

This is a powerful, great machine, and quite easy to maneuver in spite of its weight. However, you have to go to a Sears store to get the "Q" replacement bags, making me suspect (and bit concerned) that they do not plan to support the product more broadly....

We have had this Progressive model for about 1.5 years. It worked well at first, but the dirt sensor seemed a little inaccurate - not sure it was working, as it would show red for long periods of time on presumably clean carpet. But then stair mini beater-bar died in the first year. It was not a broken belt; I took it apart and cannot figure out the failuer, have not had use of it for almost a year, awaiting a chance to go to Service. Then the wand control died and now we cannot use the entire vacuum and do need to go get Service. Very disappointed in this purchase. Would not buy it again and now need to go through major inconvenience to get it repaired....

I love this canister vac, it does the job. But the price is way too high. It does pick up everything great, but my parents have a hoover version of the same type that they paid a third of the price for and it does the exact same thing. If I would have known of the Hoover before I bought this, I would have got it instead based on the price. But I cannot complain about its performance, it does a great job....

Suction is great for carpet and floor. The power nozzle is okay, works great on furniture, however, when I vacuum the stairs, I tend to use full size head. The clean light indicator is wonderful. Cord and hose are plenty long and changing tools is simple and fast. Very pleased....

I have cleaned private homes professionally for twenty-five years and the Kenmore Progressive canister is by far the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used. I love the quick release telescoping wand because it's easy on the lower back and convenient for edging floors. Many of my clients have bought one at my request and like me they love it! Over the years I have used Orek, Rainbow, Hoover, Wind Tunnel, Kirby, and Electrolux but in my opinion the Kenmore blows them all away! [The only vacuum cleaner that compares is the new central cleaning systems that have a quick release wand.] The Kenmore makes its easy to clean from ceiling to floor in a matter of minutes because of easy accessability to the attachments. It's quieter, reaches under furniture better, and is easier to use then any of the vacuum cleaners I have tried. Also, they last a long time. The last one I had lasted for 10 years before having to buy my new one. If you buy this vacuum cleaner you will not be disappointed....

While this vac is about 50% more quiet than a similar Hoover, design of the wand makes use more difficult. The power head is large, and very effective for rugs. It is intended for hard-floor use also, but I don't find it cleans as well as a traditional hard-floor tool. There is also a medium sized brush tool you can use as a hard-floor tool, but it does not swivel easily to get under furniture. In fact, low-overhung surfaces like underneath a sofa are just not cleanable with this vac. The cord mechanism, wheels, and attachments work great; but, the wand (pipe) is very difficult to remove from the hose. This connection incorporates the power plug for the power-heads, and is designed to connect firmly. The problem is that it's extrememly difficult to disconnect if you want to attach a tool to just the handle-end of the flex-hose. In sum, I liked my Hoover cannister better for ease of use. Yes, it was loud; and less expensive....

The Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum does circles around the Oreck. I had a Kenmore canister vacuum before the Oreck and really liked it but decided to try an upright (Oreck), I was not happy with the Oreck. The Kenmore picks up the dirt so much better and you can clean more hard to reach areas with the canister vacuum as well as you have an all in one vacuum that does it all. I have three dogs in the house and its great for picking up the dog hair as well as the fine sand that comes off their feet. If I ever have to purchase another vacuum it will definitely be another Kenmore canister without hesitation. I can say that the Kenmore vacuum is the best ones I've had and I am on my third one now and I say that in a good way. It does such a good job I use it everyday....

I purchased this in May have had only a short time but love it very much, the best part is the light can find things in a darker room. Love the on board attachments. Have had many cleaners in the past from hoover to orack. Was going to purchase a Dyson but did not like the price. So decided to go with this kenmore. So far have not regreated it. All I can say about this canister vacuum is that it was well worth the money spent. I absolutley LOVE it! There is very little dust spread around after its use and the carpets and hardwoods look great after the job is done. Not only does it do a great job on the carpets and floors, but use its attachments and get between the creases on your furniture, along the baseboards, windowsills, and even the car! Yes... great for cleaning the car too! I can honestly say that this one is the best on the market. Don't spend all the money for the fancy bagless vacs.... stick with the one that has been around for years ~ Kenmore! You will be very satisfied....

It was time for a new vacuum. First, I bought a cheap Galaxy uprite and the belt kept slipping off. It is now the basement vac. I have a Kenmore Canister that is about 5 years old up at the summer house and I'm happy with it. I decided to spend the "big bucks" on a new Kenmore Canister. I got the Sedona (despite the Orange color) because it was a closeout special that had been returned by another customer. It was serviced and I checked it out to be sure it was OK. I also got the Merchandise Protection for it for 5 years. I believe these types of agreements are useless on some products but I think you get your moneys worth when it comes to vacuums. The Sedona works great. The 8' hose makes it easier to use compared to the 6' hose on my other canister. The additional 2' feet of hose allows cleaning a greater area and moving the canister around less often. I'm surprised at how useful the LED lights are on the wand. The light shines brightly and is aimed well so you can really see better when......
