I was so dissatisfied with the design flaws of the first Kemore Progressive vacuum that I wrote the following letter of complaint to Sears.

Re: Sears Kenmore Progressive Inteliclean Vacuum Cleaner, Model 116.35922 502; Serial No. M94667970; purchase date: 12-27-09

This letter is to inform you of how deeply disappointed I am that **************** misled me on the purchase of the above vacuum cleaner and request that you remove the vacuum cleaner from your best buy or recommendation list. It has not earned a place there.

In the past, have purchased several items based upon **************** ratings. My prior vacuum, a Eureka The Boss Smart Vac was a **************** best buy. It vacuumed well until all the parts and attachments started breaking. It was not designed to last and it was made cheaply. When I read **************** to search for a replacement, I understood why no Eureka vac made...

This vaccum does a good job and doesn't use bags. No bags is nice; but messy. I was surprised how quiet it was too.

My wife and I have owned several traditional vacuums over the years but have always shied away from tank vacuums. When our last vac bit the dust we decided to try out a bagless and now wish we'd made the changeover years ago. Unlike a traditional vacuum that creates backpressure by forcing the vacuumed debris into a little four by eight inch bag the tank vac does not have to overcome backpressure which actually forces dirt back into the carpet. We are very pleased with the tank type vac and will never go back.

Works very well. Only one minor issue, if you have pest, you have to watch that the filter doesn't get clogged. (it gets clogged before in even done with the living room) Its quick and easy to shake it out and clean it. But, FYI.

I like this vacuum. I think its a good quality vacuum and it works great on carpet and hardwood floor.

We have one yellow lab, and her fur has become quite the trouble on our carpets lately. Our ten year old Hoover just wasn't cutting it any more, so we took our dirty, furry carpet to Sears and tested out the vacuums to see which did the best job on her fur. We tried Dyson, Kenmore, and Hoover, and boy was this Hoover girl stunned! The Kenmore did the best job of all the vacuums we tested, and we have been very pleased with its performance in our home! We chose the bagless knowing that we'd use our air compressor to blow out the filter every few uses, and it's been working great. If you don't have an air compressor, you might select the bagged style, but we would have gone through three bags in the first week alone with all the Muzzy fur about the house! Every time I come home from work it seems like we've gotten new carpets. I'd recommend this vacuum to anyone in a heartbeat! ~m

Though heavier than my last vacuum, this Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner certainly does a better job at cleaning. It is a very powerful machine and there is no need to fuss with belts, as it is a beltless direct drive system. It comes with some very handy attachments and I found it even handled the stairs in my home well....

The Kenmore Vacume Cleaner is the most effecient cleaner, makes your carpet look brand new. Is extremely easy to handle and the price was great....

I purchased the Kenmore progressive inteli-clean vacuum in the summer of 2007. Ever since then my carpets along with everthing else have been the cleanest they've ever been. The amount of attachments you receive are more than enough to tackle any job you may have. Lastly one of the features I love is the dirt sensor. It always tells me when the area is clean beyond what the naked eye can see. Happy cleaning!!

Sears Repair computer-phoned to say my top-rated 1997 Kenmore Tank Vacuum was ready to pick up. I had paid an initial fee to start the replacement of the motor.

It was returned untouched, I was told it meant that no motor was available, and no refund was offered.

I said it could be a fraud to take money for no work, and I did not believe a top-rated Kenmore vacuum cleaner could not have a replacement motor available somewhere.

I said I did not believe Sears Shoreline would deny a refund.

The pickup desk person then admitted that his superior had the authority to refund. I got the refund and took back my unfixed Kenmore -- to get fixed some other way.

I will be calling Kenmore for confirmation that my Kenmore's motor is not available anywhere. At least, perhaps, from Parts.com, Ebay, or Craig's List, if not through Sears.

Meanwhile, I am trying a new highly-rated Kenmore stand-up bagless vacuum cleaner that was on sale at Sears Shoreline for $70 off from $350.
