We had been looking at ellipticals for a couple of months and had not seen the Nordic Track A.C.T. When I saw it and tried it out at our local Sears, I was sold. It was the perfect size! And it is quiet.

The delivery was on-time and the delivery guys very polite and professional.

It was a little difficult to assemble, but all of the pieces were there and we did get it put together just fine.

Firstly, I was promised set-up at the time of delivery and then nothing happened. I called customer service and they knew nothing about the set-up and said I would have to pay an additional 200.00 if I wanted it set up. I ended up having to do it myself and it took about 6 hours. There were several parts broken and I reached out to the company for replacement parts and they keep emailing me back nonsensical emails??? Also, when I use the elliptical, there is a loud knocking noise coming from inside the casing. I would NOT recommend this to ANYONE. I will also not order form SEARS anymore because they horrible customer support after the sale.

I recently purchased this elliptical as a gift for my girlfriend.

She has had the NordicTrack ACT for about a week now, but here are my preliminary thoughts:

I ordered online for pickup at a local store. Delivery was quick and pick-up from Sears was a snap.

Assembly was not bad at all. It took me a couple hours at a relaxed and careful pace. Fit and finish is pretty good (very good for the price).

Space was an important consideration. Although not tiny, the relatively short and square footprint allowed it to fit nicely in the space available.

The ACT has a nice long stride and is very quiet and smooth. The side drive provides a nice elliptical motion - much better than some "space saver" models. In my view, it is by far the best that NordicTrack offers. I can't speak to durability yet, but so far I am very pleased.

I'm used to gym-level ellipticals, so I have to temper my review knowing that I did not pay 4-5k for a pro model. It functions ok for me, a bit herky-jerky versus what I'm used to - but it gets my heart rate up and gives me a decent work-out, so it's not bad in that regard. What concerns me is the longevity of this elliptical. I have heard from others that you should get an extended warranty with this due to the frequency of belt failures. We shall see...

NordicTrack ACT “commercial” elliptical:

Pros: very comfortable to work out on, puts you in an ergonomic stance

Cons: We bought our ACT three months ago and unfortunately it has only been functional for one of these months. The ACT has broken down THREE separate times, each time involving a different part. It is of course under warranty, but I have had to leave work three times to let the technician into our home to work on the machine, which has been very inconvenient. The machine is now sitting in our workout room completely inoperable due to a broken left resistance wheel. For one month I have been waiting for it to be fixed. The technician has been very slow to place the parts order, and now that NordicTrack has the parts order they are “OUT OF STOCK” of the wheel needed to fix the machine. I have spoken with representatives and two different supervisors on the phone to try to expedite the process of getting this part shipped to me, and each time I have been met with the WORST...

I feel the elliptical is much much harder than my treadmill and I absolutely hated it for the first month or so, but I like it now and it burns more calories than interval running on the treadmill for the same time period.

I'm a 47 year old Firefighter. I purchased the Nordic Track A.C.T. Pro Elliptical in order to lose weight and regain cardiovascular health. The first thing I noticed was how well built the unit is, good strong steel parts, heavy base an overall good quality machine. Assembly was required, but instructions were clear and concise. With the help of my girlfriend (an extra set of hands was nice at a couple of stages during assembly) it took about 45 minutes to assemble. I started using my new Elliptical on February 1st and have used it almost daily ever since. I've lost over 30 pounds, my at rest heart rate has gone from about 73-76 beats per minute down to 48-52 beats per minute. Prior to starting my fitness program I had DAILY problems with knee pain. One reason I bought an Elliptical rather than a treadmill was for the lower impact. Not only has the Elliptical not aggravated the knee pain, but it has prevented it. Now that I've lost weight and strengthened my lower legs and knees I don't...

I have been working on it 6 days per week. I have lost 26 lbs and 2 inches on my waist since working on the machine, in combination with maintaining a better diet. Love the variations of the programmed workouts.

Had this machine for 3 months. It offers great workouts that will test even the best-fit person. It had clunk problems due to a part missing during manufacture. Nordictrack fixed this but clunking still comes back when it wants to. Had to replace the console also. Adjustable stride is a plus once you know how to do it. This machine is very smooth running otherwise. The heart-rate monitor takes forever to get a reading. Bought a separate chest-strap monitor. Get the extended warranty. I would get this machine again for this price.

I wanted a good quality elliptical with pre-programmed workouts, ipod connection, and that i didn't require a large foot print. This elliptical meets all those expectations. My only concern with the product is that the heart rate monitor is inconsistent and inaccurate.

Didn't know how I'd like the center drive but we love it! The unit is very well built and sturdy. My wife was totally a treadmill user but now loves getting on the elliptical instead. She said it's a much better workout than a treadmill and it takes less time to burn more calories, plus it's more enjoyable. If you have a busy, chaotic life, that's a really important. I would highly recommend the center drive elliptical to everyone. It doesn't take up as much space as a treadmill or the front or rear drive ellipticals. We are actually considering ordering a second one for the cabin!

I am so glad i purchased this elliptical thru all of the some what bad reviews. i will say that at one point the directions had me put the feet on the wrong way and i didnt realize it till it was all together.But it was an easy fix. I just worked out today on it and it is so quite. I dont hear any clunking sounds. The workouts are intence. I would definetly recommend this product

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! My husband and I are very happy with our purchase! It only took us 2 hours to assemble. The workout you get from this machine is awesome. Since having hip surgery in January, I really needed something with low impact. This does the job and more....I recommend the A.C.T to everyone!

I have used a ConceptII rower since 1986 and beleive that I got a good aeorobic workout.However, after using various elipical machines in hotels I decided to make the switch. After doing some reseach, I purchased the A.C.T.Lots of parts, but manageable. It made the clanking noise, but was fixed with a couple of shims by the tech dispatched from Nordic. I would rate their customer service 4 stars.The bottom line, is that I am getting a hell of a workout in 30-45 minutes. Most noticable is the difference in Core and leg muscles. Highly recommend it.

The price I paid for the Nordic Track ACT Elliptical Trainer is probably the best money I've ever spent, short of a home mortgage. I've had the machine for about nine months, and I'm here to say it works almost exactly as advertised. If you have the motivation to use it regularly, you will get results. The convenience of working out in your own home, whenever you want - and never waiting for someone else to finish using a machine - is SO worth it.

This machine is easy to use, and has plenty of options to help you get the most out of your workout. Aside from the whole iFit system, which I haven't used much, there are a large number of pre-programmed courses with varying duration and multiple resistance levels. You can also select from 20 resistance levels on-the-fly with a single touch.

The adjustable stride is a great thing, too, although I leave it at 22" all the time. That's a longer stride than many non-adjustable machines offer - compare and see.

I bought this machine online in March and I absolutely love it. My husband had an easy time putting it together and it works great. I love the different routines to pick from and I also love that it has such a high resistance. It is very easy to navigate through the different exercises. It is also great that it doesn't take up a lot of space. Overall I'm very satisfied and would definitely recommend this....
