The family and I watch lots of movies and when the DVD player quit working, the PS3 took up the slack. After about a week of using the gaming controller to play movies we all wanted to throw it at the tv. Picked up the DVD remote and found it to be very useful. Yes it would have gotten a better review if it had larger buttons or if the remote was back lit since we watch movies in a dark room but all in all it is a good product and very necessary if you watch lots of movies with the PS3.

I think it is worth it. I hated the ps3 game controler to do the movies. My wife dosn't play the games and didn't use or understand the ps3 controler. A standard remote is simple to use.

ive had this for quite some time now, and i love it. i use it daily and its still on the second set of batterys since i bought it. itll work with DVD, Blu-Ray, Netflix, and general navigation of the system. it must be paired with the system its all step by step from the system and takes just moments. would like to see backlighting but when you use it as much as i do you know where the buttons are. also since this is BlueTooth it does NOT have to be "aimed" or even in the same room as the system.

I would consider this a must have accessory for the PS3 if you are going to watch DVDs and Blu-rays. The remote is a wireless bluetooth device, which means you do not have to point it at the system for it to work. It works great and has a great layout. You can also use this remote to navigate on the dashboard of the PS3 if you are not a gamer, you can put away the wireless gaming controller that came with the PS3. If you are a gamer, this Blu-ray/DVD remote can work perfectly fine like a gaming controllers too.

This remote does exactly what it's supposed to, I have no problems with. With that being said, unless you plan on watching a LOT of movies on your PS3 this remote isn't really necessary, the layout of this is remote is very standard, play, rewind, fastforward, stop, etc. If you plan on watching a lot of movies then this is probably worth the money as it is very convenient, however if you only use you PS3 for movies once a while then you can most likely get by using your controller.

In the old days controllers had wires and using them as remotes was tedious at best, however with modern gaming came wireless everything, and with a PS3 controller that does the same thing as a remote except the bottons aren't marked it's hard to justify spending $20 on something that you most likely won't be able to find half the time anyway (ever lose the remote?).

Bottom line it's convenient, however if you don't plan on using your PS3 as a media center it's redundant.

Very good item and useful for accessing and playing the blu-ray player. It really makes it less of an effort than using the game controller....
