At that time, it was brand new on the american market as this company usually builds seats for race cars and airplanes. We purchased a new one last year, for our second car, so we can swap cars without having to move the seat from one to another. It was easy to install and my daughter loves riding in it. She can see out the window even with the side impact protection and she can sleep comfortably in it. She's very tall for her age and doesn't fit in the traditional Convertable toddler seat because of her height. I love that Recaro has been making seats for racecars and that the seats are very sturdy. It's very comfy and she loves to be in it. We've had no problems with the SIP that I've heard some people think. It's heavier then other seats and it takes a little getting used to installing it, but once it's in it's solid....
