Reginaa says "SEARS customer services is HORRID..." about Repair Service

The only place I would ever consider buying home appliances was SEARS...NOT any longer. I previously purchased my refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer there. When my 4 year old refrigerator stopped cooling, I immediately called SEARS and explained what happened. The customer service rep on the other end was so nice, courteous and helpful. Humph...if I had ONLY known...So, he informs me that my warranty has expired, but I can go ahead and purchase the protection agreement at this time and it would cover the visit that was only 4 days away! Plus, I would get a $200 food reimbursement for the loss of my food. It would cover up to $500 of repairs on the visit, PLUS, if my appliance was deemed unrepairable, SEARS would replace it. The cost for this was $251.00. I really didn't have that to spare, as I am a single mom of 4, but, I did it anyway, thinking it would be better in the long run seeing as how he told me just to come to my house would cost $125.00 (I don't remember the exact amount)......

ahorvitz says "Misleading information, terrible service. SEEK ALTERNATIVE!" about Repair Service

The ice maker in my four year old Kenmore refrigerator needed replacement. Through the Sears Home Services website, I made a service appointment. I received an email confirmation of this appointment that included the following text:

Estimated Cost $75
(If you have the repair completed, this fee is COVERED by your repair cost. If you decline the estimate, you will be responsible for the above charge....)

This was the first direct communication I received from Sears. It is a LIE. You pay the $75 appointment / travel charge whether you have the work done or not. When you do move forward with the estimate, the $75 is converted to labor. It is not "covered".

The repair was a similarly frustrating debacle. The technician tried to tell me that the labor cost of an ice maker replacement was over $100. I laughed and asked him to leave. He changed his tune and the labor charge magically became $18.00. And if I hadn't challenged him...

Hours after the repair, we discovered that...
...

I scheduled a repair appointment for my whirlpool washer since monday the 6/20/11 and it was set for today 6/24 from 1-5pm. Sears calls me at 4:49PM to tell me that theres no technician available to repair my washer. So now i had to reschedule for tuesday the 28th, that another week for my washer to be repaired and i've already been waiting 2 wks (its been broken since 6/13) because you guys couldnt fix it the first time around on Sat 6/18. Thank you for having such horrible repair service. I WILL NEVER BUY APPLIANCES FROM SEARS AGAIN.
...

My central air is no longer leaking. Tina from Customer Care scheduled my appointment for the very next week. The technican came and fixed the leak in 15 min. I had a question on the price and Sears suprised me again and only charged me the quoted price for service. In my book, SEARS does care! Julie, thank you for all your help!...

BettyGarnett says "Sears Warranty" about Repair Service

I got an 8-12pm appt. on April 12. Received a call from Sears computer saying the tech was running late. I called at 1:30pm after still a no show and they said a tech. would be there by 2:30pm. No show. Called again. Told the tech. would be there by 4pm. No show. They said they had no direct contact with the tech. and would send him a message. I asked to speak to a supvr. and was told her name and we accidentally got disconnected. I called back and asked to speak to the name of the supvr. given to me, and it was a false name! I asked to reschedule for the following morning and I requested to be the first appt., given I wasted a whole day waiting for them! April 13, 8:15, no show/call. I finally got a tech in my home to fix my washing machine 26 3/4 hrs. later! I will never buy another product from Sears or any of their entities. They have left a sour taste in my mouth and it is disgusting! All in all, the customer service were never helpful. They might as well have been a computer!
...

mlymichael says "Terrible - had to take off three days of work!!" about Repair Service

I am very upset with Sears repair service. I have a garbage disposal that is only a few months old and is leaking profusely. My husband contacted Sears about their warranty, and they said they would send someone out to either fix or replace the disposal - easy, right? The first day I took off work for my appointment between 8 - noon, they contacted me at 12:30 to tell me the technician had an emergency and wouldn't be able to make it until the afternoon. About 4p.m., I called them and was told that he was still at the "emergency" and wouldn't be there until 5:30. Later I received a call that he wasn't going to be able to make it that day. Needless to say, I took the whole day off of work. It would have been better had they just told me that he wasn't going to be able to make it first thing in the morning so I could have gone in to work. The appointment was then rescheduled by my husband, and he ended up not being able to make that appointment so we reschedule for the following Tuesday...
...

I am an engineer and VERY mechanically inclined. My 7 year old front load washer (Kenmore) started to shake violently during the final spin cycle. I took the machine apart, diagnosed that the main tub bearing is bad. I decided not to try to take it apart because I might damage the pulley or other parts as it seems that the bearing is pressed in place. So I scheduled an appointment online; easy to use website; very nice. More good news is that they don’t charge the $129 until they actually arrive; I assumed they would charge it as soon as I hit “accept”. This is where the good news ends. The technician had the same diagnoses; however, he came up with $630 worth of parts that needs to be replaced. First, the bearings are part of the outer drum so it has to be replaced. Fine. However, he went on to say that they replace the inner drum, the pulley, as well and several other parts whenever they do the outer drum. That is idiotic; the pulley is fine; I even took it...
...

When both my washer and dryer went up simultaneously, I tried to call the 800 number to schedule an appointment. Since I needed to make an appointment for two appliances I couldn't online, or in the phone menu. It takes five minutes to get through the menu and be put on hold, then nobody every picks up. Nobody ever answers the Chat Online thing either.

So, I made an appointment online for one appliance, and wrote in the notes that I also needed the second one repaired. Foolishly remembering the Sears of my youth that sold great products and gave great service, assuming a second repair would cost less than the first, since the cost of the service call would be factored into the first repair (like reputable companies do), I wasn't worried about the charge.

The technician was polite and on time. Since the @&*# dryer decided to just start working again upon his arrival, I have nothing to base a judgement on his competence, so I'll just assume he was competent. But, he wouldn't fix...
...

I have an 8 year old Kenmore front load washing machine that recently began making loud banging noises during the final spin cycle. I called Sears Home Services thinking $129 was reasonable for labor on the repair. The technician was scheduled to arrive between 10am and 2pm. He arrived at 3:10pm. He diagnosed the problem based entirely on the same description I entered when I created the appointment. The estimate for the repair was $388. I declined, since the washer is not worth that much. Therefore I'm stuck with a $129 bill for a visit that lasted 5 minutes, wasted half of my day, and that could have been avoided entirely if someone had diagnosed the problem remotely. I'm left with the impression that Sears' repair service pricing is deceitful at best. They lure you in with the promise of a fixed labor cost, but then hit you with outrageous pricing on parts. Clearly the quality of the washer is suspect too, since it needs replacing after 8 years of light use (avg....
...

I recently called Sears to help me figure out why my $700 (1.5 yr old) Electrolux dishwasher was not running thru an entire cycle...it was a mistake calling Sears. I did sign up for the warranty, once price, service call with the promise of recieving a $500 voucher if Sears could not feasibly fix the problem. The person on the customer care hotline explained to me, after evaluating my error code on the display panel, that the technician would be at my house between 8am - noon with the correct parts to fix my dishwasher. I waited, and waited, and waited...finally at 1:30pm I recieve a call that the technician is running behind and will not be at my house unitl 4pm that same day. I patiently waited and the technician showed up around 4:15pm. The technician begain to disassemble my dishwasher and quickly came to the conclusion that my voltage in my house was 135 volts so they cannot repair the dishwasher. I asked how he thought my voltage was high and he stated "if I am reading my meter right...
...

I tried calling 1-800-4-MYHOME to schedule repair service on a Kenmore washing machine. My local yellow pages has a large ad for Sears appliance repair which says they offer Saturday and evening appointments as well as weekdays in 4-hour windows. I spoke with two different operators over the phone and was told each time that in my area they only offer Monday, Wednesday, and Friday appointments from 9-5 in 8-hour windows. I can arrange to be at home to meet a repairman on most Tuesdays and Thursdays, but given my work schedule it's not at all possible on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and really who could take off an entire 8-hour day to sit at home waiting for someone to arrive? Besides, the next available appointment is WEEKS away. A rather useless service all-in-all. Thanks Sears.

Another company who has delegated their customer service overseas. Rep actually laughed when he determined it was going to take two weeks for a part to be installed.
When my washer broke Sears was fairly quick to get a repair man here - just a day or two. Bu then I waited "8AM to 5PM" for repairman to show - took time off to sit at home. Repairman did NOT show until AFTER 5. When I quieried him about the time he told me "he knew I'd be the last call since it was only a few miles from his home!" I wasted an entire day waiting on someone who KNEW he wouldn't be there and did not have the courtesy to call and let me know that.
At that point in the day, he no longer had necessary part (a relay switch) on his truck and it had to be ordered. Once it arrived, customer service told me it would take 2 weeks until a repairman could show up to install it (a five min. job = at best) and the man I was speaking to overseas though this was really funny. When I asked to speak to someone in......

I have been waiting for nearly 3 weeks for parts for my TV to come in after the repairman had been out to determine that my 2.5 month old 50" HDTV had to have a panel replacement. Well, the panel came in and the technician called to set up an appointment.
