Do not buy this item. Bad quality.

When this useless piece of plastic actually manages to load a dvd it either switches on the subtitles, changes the screen resolution to something that the tv doesn't support or plays the dvd without a picture. Just to keep things fresh it alternates between a high pitched whine and no sound at all. It took me 20 minutes to play a movie last night.

The VCR function worked, surprisingly but when the unit is turned off it makes a constant noise like it's trying to load the tape.

I'll be returning this today, I've struggled with this thing a week, that's more than long enough. This is my first and last Samsung product ever, first impressions are important and this is a lasting one.

Hopefully the return process goes smoothly, I don't usually think of Sears for electronics and if this is any indicator I'll be going elsewhere if there's the slightest hitch.

It is 6mo old and it won,t record or play tapes at all. It will cost more to fix it than I payed for it. I have other combos that are 5 years old and they still work...

Worked Great for 6 months. then it broke. Now we have some great movies, and unless we want to invest half the selling price 6 months later plus shipping one way, not to mention "how long will it take?" Better to invest the money in something new....
