Bought this set November 2009, set delivery for January but pushed it off to March as we remodeled our house. The set has worked great up to today October 2010. Dryer stopped dead. Make a loud rumbling sound, finished cycle and loaded next load. Unit will not start. Just got off the phone with Sears service is scheduled for Tuesday (today is Sunday). So Far I am a happy camper! I do need to find out if my warranty prior starts at the day of purchase or delivery! I may not be so happy
...

This is my first time ever writing a review for a product but this washer has forced me to. We purchased this washer September 2009 and it has required every part to be replaced since then. The first service call 1 week after sears delivered it began walking and dancing in our laundry room. The service guy came out and of course he blamed it on the fact that we were on a crawl space. It took 2 or 3 more service calls before a guy came out and finally fixed it and we didn't see it dancing anymore. A couple months later the washer began to leak so we called sears repair and he found the leak he said and replaced multiple parts. The very same day after the new parts were installed it began to leak again and also dance and walk in our laundry room. We have had at least 6 service calls to our house since then and they have no idea where the leak is coming from. They have replace every part in our washing machine and they still don't have a clue where the leak is coming from.
...

Already making me a very happy person! I have only had the set 1 day and have done about 4 loads so far. My previous washer was loud and would shake my entire house when on the spin cycle. This washer is quiet and doesn't create an earthquake when on spin. Which in my opinion is worth every penny! The controls are easy to use, fancy but not complicated. The dryer is very efficient and boy does it put off some heat, when the guys were here installing they tested the dryer and it set off my smoke alarm it got so hot! Which they say is normal when you first get it hooked up since then no more alarms have gone off. If your on the fence about a Samsung versus an LG which is how I was. I would definately go with the Samsung. I have friends with the LG and they complain about the machines going out of balance and tons of service issues. Time will tell with the Samsung on servicing but I think as long as you follow the instructions and maintain good care of the machines you should have no problems....
...

So far so good, we have only had the washer/dryer set for 3 weeks. I do wipe down the washer after each use and so far have not had any issues with a musty smell.

The only problems we have had have been while dealing with Sears - from the delivery guys damaged the edge of a sink while installing the washer and then tried to cover it up - to the poor attitudes at the no-Customer Service Department.. Will definetely recommend buying the Samsung washer/dryer again but not from Sears!

I've had this washer since Feb. 14th. I have washed all types of clothing and bathroom rugs. It got everything really clean, is very quiet, and has almost no vibration. This is important since it is on the second floor of the house. I did get the pedestal and am really happy I did. I recommend this washer without reservation. It even does a great job with the delicate cycle.
...

talsaul says "Happy with my decision so far" about Samsung 4.0 cu. ft. High Efficiency Front Load Washer - WF219AN

I was hesitant to buy this machine after reading some of the reviews here. However, through a process of elimination I ended up buying it and I am very happy so far. First, let me address the criticisms that nearly put me off purchasing the machine:

1. A cycle takes too long. When I use the regular wash on "light soil" it takes 55 minutes, the same as my old top loader but the clothes are appreciably cleaner and dryer. If I increase to medium soil it adds 10 minutes to the cycle time for a total of 65 minutes. I have not needed to use medium soil even though I have 6 year-old twins who are very active and get very dirty. The clothes come out clean on the "light soil setting."

2. The detergent is too expensive: you only need a tiny amount of the special detergent BUT I have been using the regular detergent that I had left over before buying this machine and it works fine. The key is to use half what you ordinarily would have used in a top loader.

3. Smell. My old top loader...
...

We have been using this samsung washer for a few months now and have had similar problems as the other bad reviews of the spin cycle not working properly and the clothes being soaked at the end of the cycle. A sears repair woman came and said we are using too much soap so it ruins the spin cycle sensor so we have been using much less soap now but i feel like my clothes aren't getting cleaned properly!! Plus all our clothes and towels are so hard to the touch now!! I miss my old top loading washing machine. Didnt have all these problems that this new machine has. It gives me a bad taste for front loadering washing machines.

This washer only gets 4.5 gallons of water in the wash cycle, so, it doesn't get anything over a 1.0 cu/ft load clean or rinsed properly. I noticed a dirty moldy smell in my clothes, and stiffness from excess softener left in the load. I think everyone is mistaking the strong perfume smell from the softener for clean. It's a beautiful machine, and very quiet, but, it fails to do it's primary function.... clean clothes. Sears allowed me to return it for a full refund after 3 months (what a great store Sears is! This is why I only buy here.) I bought a Whirlpool top loader instead (WTW57ESVW).
...

We purchased this washer based on the great reviews, however there is a very significant defect that we have noticed in all three (yes 3) of our exchanges. The first washer seemed to work well for a few months (we loved it) until one day we noticed our clothes were soaking wet at the end of the cycle. After looking a little closer, we noticed the normal wash cycle would stop at 8 minutes and jump to 11 minutes, thus turning on the rinse cycle again. As a result, the clothes do not spin properly and come out soaked. In addition, none of our loads on the "normal Setting" were ever the 52 minute time specified on the machine. They averaged about an hour and 20 minutes each. We called samsung and they said that the cycle time should be the time that shows on the machine when you start the cycle. The time for every cycle we run has been higher on all three machines. The machine seems to get stuck at times and will stay at a time for several minutes before continuing to decrease...
...

Right off the bat we had problems with the spin cycle. It gets to 11 minutes left and then it just sits there like it can't decide what to do next. Then it spins real slow in one direction and then the other. Then it tries to spin faster but peters out. It will do that for about a half an hour and then says the load is done but the clothes are still soaked. Had the repai man out but it still doesn't work.

I researched front-load washers about a year ago, figured out that I wanted the Samsung, but wasn't ready to spend the money. Finally Black Friday brought me a deal I could not resist at Sears. So whether I love this machine because I waited so long for it, or because I want to think I got a great buy, I can't deny, but it is a great machine. Here's what I love:

It is so quiet! I stare through the window looking for the water because I don't hear anything. And there's no bouncing, shaking, etc. Of course loads don't get un-balanced in a front-loader so that helps.

The clothes get really clean! I haven't figured out yet how full I can stuff it yet, but so far I like how the clothes come out. I was a little concerned buying the 4.0 that I would later wish I had something larger, but the difference between 4.0 and 4.5 is 18 bath towels or 21. Not a big deal. And, you can still wash a comforter in this machine.

Energy efficiency: my husband described it as the difference...
...

Couldn't pass this up at the sale price it was being offered at. So far, so good. The Sears delivery guys were friendly and efficient, and took the time to go over the basics of the machine. AND they were actually on time!

The machine is extremely quiet and very easy to operate. One feature I like is that is shows how much time is left in the cycle. My only complaint is that even on the loudest setting, I can't hear the buzzer from upstairs (the machine is in the basement), where I could on my old washer. But given all the other positives, I'm not too concerned about that, since it tells me how long the cycle will be, so I just make a mental note of when I throw the load in.

If I had to recommend this washer to anyone, as of this point, it would be a thumb's up.

Note: I've had this washer for a couple months now, and have done approximately 10-12 loads.
...

I bought this washer dryer combo because of the price in Nov, 2008, due to volume of sales I didn't get it until Jan 2009. Between the time I bought it and got it, my daughter and 3 month old grandson had moved in with us. I never dreamed my new appliances would get the use they have this year. When the deliver men brought it they refused to hook up the washer (long story not product related) so when my husband got home he hooked it up. I had read stories about other front load washers that had a horrible vibration and walked across the floor to the point the customer returned the product. Mine was acting the same way. I knew the no reputable washing machine manufacturer would produce a product that had that kind of personality. We worked for an hour trying to level it and move it to a different spot on the floor, all to no avail. I felt like we had made a huge financial mistake at that point and I sat down and cried. Something told me that I had one last resort before...
...

Just got my WF219ANW yesterday and right out of the gate I'm disappointed. Had Sears deliver and install to make sure specs were met but my laundry is sopping wet when the cycles is done. If you squeeze them by hand water comes streaming out. It does this no matter what type and size of load I put in. Even if I run 3 extra spin-only cycles on it they don't get any better. Now I get to play the finger pointing game with Samsung to see if I just got a lemon or what the deal is. When I called Samsung they tried to tell me not to use the heavy soil level even though I explained this was happening even with the extra spin-only cycle(s) in which soil level isn't an option. That's kind of like telling someone who bought a new car you can't drive it in Overdrive if you want to avoid stalling. Nice approach Samsung!
...

I'm a fairly new owner of this machine and was hesitant to go with any front loader due to their bad reputations for noise, mildew and poor performance, but so far, I am extremely impressed. This washer has an abundance of features: child lock, pause button, delay start, easily adjusted settings to name a few. It is very, very quiet and does not vibrate at all. Our laundry room is upstairs on a tile floor and the machine has not moved an inch.

My helpful Sears salesman recommended this machine over the LG due to the vibration reduction technology that Samsung has developed and I guess it is more than just talk. The machine runs quietly and clothes come out looking great. I got rid of my horrible Whirlpool Calypso which mangled many items over the last 8 years. This machine is so gentle on things, but everything is exeptionally clean, too.

Reviews are what swayed my decision to purchase this machine. As I said, I haven't had it long enough to attest to its durability, but...
...

I just bought my Samsung Neat (and I mean Neat) Washer in November 09' and have not one complaint yet. I went with this one because of the review's. I have not had the washer too long but, so far so good. I find this washer to go above and beyond for me. I really enjoy how I can pre-set it to start wash when it really needs to be started. I also love how simple it is to run but I also enjoy it's modern look and the technology of it. I no longer have to worry about turning a dial or hearing a loud buzz to remind me that the load is complete. Instead of a buzz, there is a chime and instead of twisting a dial I simply hit a button. I am going to post back in a few months, just in case I have any problems but, I don't think I will. Anyway's thank you all for the recommendations I am glad I went with this washer.
...
