Great Value by Toro. If you don't mind using and extension cord. Plenty of blowing power and great vacuum suction. The unit is not too heavy, my 9yr old daugher even uses it to help out. The best thing about this Toro over many other tools is that it has an medal impeller. It will pick up small sticks and mulch them evertime. It has never cloged on me and make quick work of New England fall. Great product by Toro!
...

frththrockfromsun says "Excellent blower, very poor bag quality; wears out quickly" about Toro 235 MPH Ultra Blower/Vac

This is my 3rd Craftsman leaf blower and have been pleased with all three - except for the bag on this new one. It's obvous they have used the bag from the lower speed (CFM) blowers and the bag doesn't hold up. The blower (vacuum) works excellently. After just a few hours of picking up leaves around our home, the bag wore through where the leaves leave the blower and hit the bag. The hole was over 6 inches long. I sewed in a heavy canvas patch, but it wore through after a dozen or so bags full. Also, although the slide clip used to empty the bag is convenient, it's obvious that this will be the next area to wear out, as the fabric is already wearing through. On an older model, I had a brass zipper installed at a shoe repair shop and it worked great. Sears is giving me a $50 gift certificate to help replace the bag, but the bag costs $75 to replace ($60 for the bag and $15 for shipping). That's as much as I paid for the entire blower.
...

I purchased this leaf blower/vac after considerable research and based upon the overwhelmingly favorable customer reviews at ******.com. This was my second Toro leaf blower/vac, having previously owned a Toro "Rake And Vac Superblower" Model 51553.

This new Toro 51599 was a big disappointment :

- Heavy (!)
- Annoying high frequency vibration that is transmitted to the handle
- Very high noise level

In regard to the high frequency vibration this appears to be a design problem, i.e. hard mount of electric motor instead of isolation rubber mounts. In regard to high noise level, Toro fails to include any warning in the operator's manual and on the leaf blower itself. If you value your hearing, definitely wear some form of ear protection !
My wife refuses to use this leaf blower because of the high frequency vibration that makes her hands go numb within about five minutes. Well padded gloves help some, but the vibrations are still noticeable.

While blowing and sucking performance is good,...
...

I have used an electric craftsman with a 200 wind speed...this blows that out if the water. I have a "crabapple" tree in my back yard with those 3/4" to 1" apples everywhere. I put this bad boy in vac and it sucks up those apples and leaves and doesnt miss a beat. I would buy one of these for every member of my family. Great buy excellent price.

The Toro 235 Miles per Hour Blower/Vac is a great Item. However, if you do not desire the Vacuum shredder capability then the metal fan will not be a big selling point. If that is the case then the Craftsman 12amp Electric Blower item# 07174824000 A/K/A Toro 51592 is just as good and is available at SEARS for $49.99 or the Toro on Amazon.Com for $46 plus free shipping. It is powerful enough for driveway jobs and with some maneuvering lawns too. I particularly like the variable speed, and it is capable to do leaf vacuuming and mulching. It does clog when picking up piles of leaves and also impeller may break but if you avoid picking up stones or thick branches, it should last. Moreover, a replacement impeller is <$15.00 if you are mechanically inclined.
...

If you are used to the power of a gasoline blower / vac, you will be pleasantly surprised at this unit. It really generates a powerful air stream both ways.

Because I really liked the first one I bought a couple of years ago, I now own two of these Toro 235 mph Ultra Blower/Vacs. I boought a second one this season so that I can leave one setup as a blower & one as a vac PLUS I now have a second bag allowing me to make fewer trips to the heap.

I love the metal impeller!!! Sometimes thick and relatively stiff objects get pinched between the impeller and the plastic housing. I would really like to see Toro install a circular, serrated or at least scalloped metal chime mounted on the plastic housing in that area where seed pods and other thick objects get pinched causing the motor to stop or poping the mechanism open, shutting off the power. A serrated or scalloped metal chime, even a relatively blunt / dull one, would help cut into the thicker objects sucked into the unit.

BTW, the machine......

We live on a street that has dozens of trees that shed their leaves every time the wind blows, so this was a life saver. The basic blower function is incredible, it gets a lot done on even the lowest power level. The vac function we haven't been that impressed with, but that would have just been a bonus since raking is now a thing of the past, it's easy to just scoop from a pile to bag the leaves. A great choice/purchase!...

He had a Husqvarna back pack and gave it up for this. No mixing of gas. Excellent value and quality. Don't walk - run to buy it!...

I have owned one for the past two years after I could NOT find a replacement for my old Sears Blower/vac. This blower is better than the Sears especially the impellar which is made of metal instead of plastic. It has very good velocity and moves even piles of wet leaves and pine needles. I recommend this to friends over gas powered ones as it is more powerful. Sure it has a cord, the power it puts out is worth it. Besides, I don't have to worry about a gas motor that eventially will have starting or performance problems. When operating, I recommend using hearing protection!...

I have used the blower, very powerful and light wieght. Pushed around wet leaves with no problem. I have a fenced in yard with alot of bushes and the leaves just pile up in the corners. thats where the vaccum comes in handy. I vaccum up the piles then go right between the bushes and vaccum up. It makes it alot easier, just empty the bag right into the garbage can. Don't have to bend over to pick up the leaves. I have vaccumed up some wood mulch, doesn't seem to bother the metal blades. The only problem is the cord keeps coming apart from the extension cord. Nice product!!!...

I've owned two of these.... the 1st just died after two years of light seasonal use on less than a 1/4 acre. I liked the way it worked so I reolaced it with a 2nd one which now sounds like it's grinding gravel when in use I'm not going to replace it with a 3rd one.... time to buy something that might last.
