pteroglossus says "sometimes, you get more than what you paid for" about Virgin Mobile - Kyocera K127 MARBL Cell Phone

Virgin Mobile is a pay-as-you-go mobile phone provider: no contracts, no mess, just the thing for people that are sick and tired of traditional cell phone companies. You want a phone? This is the thing for you: the MARBL is an easy-to-use small phone that works well for communication purposes (txt, email, voice). Carpe diem: if you are somebody who talks/text like crazy, and love to take/send photos, videos, etc, and you do not care for the bill (lucky you :), this is not the service/phone for you. This is a cheap phone and cheap (but reliable) service....

pteroglossus says "best car ever!" about Toyota Corolla - 2005

A Toyota Corolla is not a luxury car, but it is one of the most reliable, sturdy and happy-go-lucky things on wheels. Not too fast, not too fancy: just a plain good workhorse that will take you (and your luggage) wherever you want to go without breaking your wallet. We have used our Toyota every day for the last three years, and no mechanical problems so far (we had a flat tire, once!). If you fold the rear seat, you can even move furniture (the Corolla is not a moving van, but you can move some large things with it!).
Also, did I mention that it is easy on gas? You fill the tank with 13 gallons... and we are getting as much as 30mpg :)...

pteroglossus says "easy to install" about Insignia - NS-DXA1-APT Digital-to-Analog TV Converter Box

The Insignia NS-DXA1-APT Digital-to-Analog TV Converter Box is the box for people that love simple things: if you want something easy to install, this is the box for you. It comes with all cables that you need to make it work: literally, you plug in your antenna, you plug your TV at the other end, and done... you have digital TV at home. With the rebate, it beats getting a new TV... so this is a good alternative for that second or third TV at home.
The handbook is pretty good, and box setup/menus are self-explanatory. You can even setup the box remote to turn on your TV, with saves you one remote (however, put your old remote away after you do this!).
...

pteroglossus says "Good computer for working!" about Acer Extensa 4620Z Laptop

The Acer Extensa 4620Z is the sort of machine designed for people that work more than play. Mine came with Windows XP, which is a plus no matter what Microsoft says about Vista. With XP, it is relatively fast, comes with a good amount of memory, and will run most of your applications (world, excel, power point, OpenOffice, statistical software, photo editors, etc) without any issues. Plays and writes CDs and DVDs, and has some really foolproof presentation settings (point-and-click presentation mode: it saves to the time to change your settings when you use a LCD projector and stuff). It also reads SD/XD cards, so you can copy your photos from the camera to the laptop without issues. Plenty of ports (4 USB, 1 firewire, LAN, VGA, SVGA), wireless G, IR, bluetooth, and and ol' fax modem (really useful when you travel abroad!). Battery is pretty decent (once again, you use point-and-click settings to choose 'maximum battery' vs. 'maximum' processing power. also love the backup software that...
...
