I am a knitter and a crocheter, and you don't sell yarn or other craft supplies? why? As a serious shopper I have to go to other stores to purchase craft supplies and they do add up to almost $100 /2 months or more. My daughter s also shop at walmart to purchaes these items and if they were available we would only shop at kmart.

I too am a crocheter. I used to be able to buy yarn at my local Kmart and order large amounts of crochet thread and yarn from the Sears catalog. I have also order rug-hooking kits via the Sears catalog too.

Ahhh, good note! I dislike having to travel around to get craft supplies. With the disappearance of locally-owned craft stores there is not much competition, or variety, to be had anymore unless you shop online (but, again, at different stores).

Finding craft supplies at your local Kmart could be a great idea! They'd be reasonably priced, too!

I would love a craft section in KMart!  But being picky, I'd like to see a little bit better quality yarn than what walmart has.  Really, they only carry Red Heart, Bernat, and LionBrand, and cheaper brands like that.  I understand it's not a craft store, but I can't imagine that only selling the cheapest brands of yarn is going to be very lucrative!

Kmart missed out on the Martha Stewart craft line whch is going into walmarts as I hear it. My family is big on craft/art hobbies, it would be good if done right maybe
some partnering with brands or a craft chain like michaels etc..

I do crafts also and was wondering why the stores don't have a section for the crafts supplies? I too understand that they aren't a craft store but they have other things there why not a craft section?  with... (yarn , plastic canvas, knitting/crotheting )etc. I'm sure we would shop there more if they did . Instead  of having to go to several different stores.

K-Mart used to sell craft supplies a long time ago, but they stopped because there's no guarantee that the stuff will sell.

My local Wal-Mart just recently did away with their fabric and severely pared back their craft supplies to the most basic stuff they can carry. It makes me sad because I loved being able to run down there at 3 AM when I found that I had run out of thread for a project, instead of waiting until 9 - 10 AM when the other stores opened.

Now I just leave the house early when going to work and swing by Jo-Ann or order stuff online.

Ditto here. It's getting hard and harder to find yarn with out running accross town. I participate in a few communities online and hang a few places more. Each community/forum has a large amount of "Crafters" I was stunned how many people knit. Yesterday in Wal-mart I saw the size of the yarn shrunk again. I was depressed.

I dind't realize knitting was so 'in'. That's really cool especially in this age where everything is manufactured. It's great to see people re-learning old crafts and finding creative new ways to apply them!

I love to do plastic canvas, these supplies are hard to find! I make trains, kitchen decorations, ornaments and more. Just would be nice if finding supplies were easier!

I remember when Kmart had craft supplies. Yep, I'm that old! I live in the middle of no where south dakota. Kmart is 11 miles from my home. I have to drive 164 miles round trip to get my crafting supplies. I do not shop our area Wal mart. I do not condone their business practices, treatment of employees, etc. Their products are cheap. The employees act as though they don't want to be there and treat you as though it's your fault. My kmart store is clean, friendly and convenient. I, along with many others, would spend a great deal of money on crafting supplies if they would carry them once again.

Hi twig, that's a long distance just to get craft supplies. What kind of crafting do you do? Are there crafting clubs in your area?

I would love to see Kmart carry even a small selection of coin collecting items like they used to back in the 80s.  It seems that crafts are always being cut for the latest gadget.

There is no fabric, yarn or craft materials source, other than Walmart (not much selection) or the internet, within 75 miles of here  (150 mile round trip) - in a town of probably 60,000 which serves as the major shopping source for 2 counties (Lincoln & Otero) + a military base, in southeastern NM.  I am old enough to remember when KMart used to carry fabric and craft supplies - darn, sure miss those days!  Love those Martha Stewart housewares, though!

Completely off topic... I like your avatar.  It reminds me of the A-ha video "Take On Me', which I love.

Sears has got a revolving head leather punch and a hot-melt glue gun.
