I got this email last month that offered a free Sears $25 gift card for taking a survey. I completed the survey, but never got any gift card:

Dear Member,

You have been invited to participate in an online survey.  As one of our most active members in the MySears community, you have been selected to participate in a new type of survey.  While most surveys are simple 5 minute questionnaires, this survey will act as more of an online consumer panel.  Because this survey takes much more time and effort than our usual surveys, we will award $25 to any of the pre-selected members who complete it.  MySears Community values your feedback and we will take all of your suggestions into consideration.  Please only start this survey when you have around 20-25 minutes to complete it.  As we expand the program, we will look to members who provide the most honest and insightful feedback.

Thank you for participating!

Yes, I completed that survey as well  -- it was for the Christmas Gifts things on Sears.com -- and never received the gift card either.  I never thought much about it until you mentioned it just now.

Hey, guys-I will look into this, and get back to you early this week to let you know about the gift card.

Thanks for asking, Junebug!

I'm an employee. We just ignore these kinds of offers - as not applying to us.

I finally got the gift card number in an email the other day! It was in my SPAM folder, so I didn't notice it at first. I printed it out, took it to the store and got a really nice set of Diehard model 7323 jumper cables. They are 6 gauge 325 amp cables that are regularly $36.99 but are on sale for $29.99. So with the gift card they only cost me 7 bucks! Thanks, Sears!!

Thanks for your feedback, junebug!

To answer your question, yes, they are usable in the stores. If you do receive a question from an associate, ask that they call the 800 number to check the account balance: (1-888-332-2218).

Yes! Like I mentioned in my post, I printed out the email and handed it to the associate who punched the gift card number in at the register. Easy!
