I see corporate is using ideas from this forum from members. No renumeration or even a nod and a thank you. Its interesting that what looks like the Martha Stewart everday line is now
called the Jacklyn Smith line. (I did mention several times to stop paying martha royalities and license fees but still sell the quality merchandise)Great move but it was brought to your attention numerous times by this poster, alienating sk-you members, expecially ones who made the suggestions and have experience in the field.....Hmmmmm, can't wait to see what else they use (steal) .....

Retail man; Isn't that what I said???

Additionally, never did receive ( nor expect) an answer from MR lampert when I wrote ( via snail mail to corporate) many months ago outling the same ideas I posted here. To bad...Guess the ideas were good enough to use from the perspective of experience but not enough to credit.

Hi Retailman, we really are listening and we're very thankful to our great community members who take the time to contribute here. We're planning lots of great new things to do on the site to make it an even more fun and vibrant place to 'hang out'.

I really like the Jaclyn Smith collection, too. Our merchandising teams are constantly at work looking for trends that will appeal to our diverse customer base. This planning process takes many months and coordination across the business like buying and sourcing teams, inventory management, space planning, logistics, marketing and more.

Some of the ideas from the community can be implemented quickly including ordering more electric wheelchairs or improving customer service at local stores, clarifying other issues... But getting new merchandise into the stores takes a little longer. Understanding what our customers want and need from us is at the very top our list. This community, though it's been around for only a few short months, is helping us to do just that.

Its not a matter of liking th J.smith line. I don't care about it and my wife wouldn't touch it. Its the fact that it takes 2 seconds to stop putting martha stewarts name on something and implementing them under another celeb you have relations with (J.smith)...which is what I suggested many times. You're very nice and I appreciaite your replies but come on...
I think your reply really wasn't directed at my post just a general reply because I was very specific in my post.

Time to go again...

Retailman:

Michelina most certainly did address your concerns in a much more respectful tone than you used in either of your posts.  I'm not sure if you're involved at all in retail, but changing a line like Martha Stewart takes much more than two seconds.  Ignoring that legal issues would have to be worked out, logic would dictate that the amount of time it takes to sell through current inventory might just take a bit longer than two seconds.

If you would do your homework on Sears Holdings "Kmart and Sears' you will see that the Martha Stewart contract is just about over and there is no mention of renewing it. She has move on to Macy's. She needs a new royalty check.

"We're planning lots of great new things to do on the site to make it an even more fun and vibrant place to 'hang out'."

Is that really what this site is about? Hanging out?? I haven't been here to 'hang out'. If that's truly the point of the site, I'll hang out elsewhere. I thought this site was meant to be an input site toward improving Kmart & Sears. I guess I made an error by reading the header on the login page...

Ace1210, you didn't make any error in thinking skYOU is a site for providing feedback about Sears and Kmart - That's exactly what it is.

But the site is also meant to be a space for you to read other members' product reviews. It's a place to help others by writing reviews, giving thoughtful advice in the discussion forums and commenting in their profile pages.

The new profile page that launched recently makes it easier for members to get to know each other. If you're interested, you can create a mini-blog, upload images and tell people a little more about yourself.

Just getting your advice about Kmart and Sears is wonderful enough, but why not invite your friends and family to the community? Having your own trusted advisors who give honest feedback and product reviews is something members of the community should take advantage of.

Yes my friend I am from the retail trade if care to viewe my other posts and Michelina sorry for the tone if thats how it was taken, Procurementgirl...its takes time for alot of things your 2 second quote was funny...My suggestions were aimed at bettering Kmart my experience in high ends sales and discount sale ( fayva shoes remember them?) and merchandising gave me insights I tried to share and yes I thought is was funny how a line seemd to change names over night. I am taking here about home goods and such not clothes. This is a forum for all posts from all people who still care enough about Kmart to be here, my prior posts have proven I am one of them so do not judge me on this one post, selling though inventory is as easy as selling it to a closeout buyer like
biglots my dear.

Thanks for igniting my desire for Kmart once again...but lets get our facts straight when replying to someone shall we.

Kmart and Sears clothes for women stink. Not only can I not get something that fits but most of it is for old ladies.

Based on your replys and having read your reviews I' still not sure you are who you say you are.  But that's beside my point. No, it is not as simple as selling out to BigLots. If it were Target wouldn't dump their stuff at local Goodwill stores instead. Plus their right there are some legal issues there. Still doesn't fix that their lines suck though.

I do agree that the clothes for women at sears don't fit my size, what they have in my size is for old ladies.  I wish they had better clothes...target has pretty good clothes.  Not pants though.  I have a hard time finding jeans.  I did find some at jcpenny a year ago.

BaratLori...have you checked out the Apostrophe line.  They actually have some really cute stuff.  I get LOTS of compliments  when I wear it.  Classic Elements does seem to be geared toward an older clientale, BUT some times they have some cute stuff.  Check out the Juniors Dept and the "denim" pad....Canyon River Blues has a lot of nice tops/sweaters and before them the b.e. friends line was ok.  If you take the time to look and try stuff on you might be surprised :)

Hey Paysthebills,

I agree! Sears and Kmart has awesome clothes in the junior section, really cute and sassy tops that are appropriate for the workplace and still fun to go out! I think the more we make our voices heard, the more improvements their will be...nothing happens "overnight." Sears and Kmart are changing and I think that their will be even more great improvements in the future, just try and stay positive. Thanks for the great feedback!

A buyer is never right.

He or she either has to much of an item or to little of an item.

Things take time to change. Just like a marriage, it is far easier to get married than divorce. Contract are made and there are penalities for getting our early. One has to be patient. I can remember looking at th ebattery line of acompany I use to buy for. The line went from 3 vendors down to two vendors as well as our private brand.

The meetings, deal making, contracts etc took about 4  months just to get the best possible value for the company I bought for.

Softlines are a 50  50 chance also. The line has to be developed,  presented to the buyer and then signed off on by the powers to be above the buyer. Again all of this takes time as one is forecasting out their sales etc.

I think this site can be a number of things to us all. I can talk tools here, without the pressure of SELLING tools. If suggestions are taken in by management and show up at the stores, FANTASTIC! Sometimes management can become isolated by their very responsibilities. Maybe some of us can help? Lord knows I would not want to make the decisions that most managers make!

This site can be a great resource for ALL of us.
