LockedI love the CC discounts

I am a Sears employee, and I LOVE it when Sears runs promotions on Credit Card purchases.  Earlier this year, I bought a Plasma TV for 10% off and then they added another 10% for using my Sears CC.  I saved almost $120 - Nothing like saving sweet money!  What is the most you have ever saved using your Sears CC?  Anybody top $120?

Well, this isn't purely Sears Card savings, but I purchased my television on Family & Friends night about 18 months ago, and its regular price was $950. The F&F price was $850. I got my associate discount of 10%, plus 5% off for F&F, plus 5% off for using my Sears MasterCard. The television came out to $620. Not too shabby. Of course, now the same television retails for about $500. You can never win with electronics!

I bought a Sony 52' TV that was normally 2299, on sale for 1899, then 5% off for Friends and Family, an additional 10% off for a Sony over 40", and an EXTRA 10% off for using my Sears Card. I don't remember what the total was, but I saved around $500. Needless to say i was pumped, and I love the TV

Is this for all credit cards or just if you use a sears credit card?

My dad bought one of them fancy Japanese 4-function calculators for around $99.99.

It used some of them new LED readouts - way better than the Nixie-tube readouts on the desk calculators.

A year later, you could buy a very similar product right in the U.S. for around twenty dollars.

I asked him if he felt bad about spending the "extra" money a year ago.

I'll never forget his response, "Son. I've gotten more than my money back out of the use of this calculator over the last year and it will continue to work for years to come."

Now, THAT'S a great consumer attitude, right there!

Yaa...

I love the Craftsman Club discounts, too!

I wonder if that Craftsman tractor lifter will be on CC discount in late November/ early December?

Omnomnom said "In response to I-Hate-Citibank's post from October 01 2009 12:10PM"...  Hmmm - It isnt' there. The post thread jumps from 08/12 to 10/02.

Bad news, folks! All of your Sears Mastercards are going away in three months, unless you're willing to pay up to $50 every year in annual fees to keep them.

Don't take my word on this, either check your mailbox or call Citibank. They mailed everyone official notices two weeks ago, but the envelope looks like "junk mail", and may have been thrown away. To be clear, this is not Sears fault. They're being hosed by the fine print of their contact and have no control over these renegades.

Just an update on the annual fee situation, folks. I just got off the phone with Citibank senior card supervisor Camile (ID JVI). She confirmed that the assessment of the $45 annual fee on my account isn't unique to me, or the result of anything thats come up in my credit history profile. She stated that the assesment of annual fees for Sears cardholders is across the board, and will take affect on January 1, 2010, unless Sears Corporate recinds the affinity card relationship and switches to another servicer, such as Chase or Bank of America.

I specifically requested that the annual fee be waived for may account due to my perfect credit history, and long-term account holder standing with Sears, and she said "No".

Confirmation of the annual fee policy for Citibank may be confirmed with PR manager Mr. Samuel Wong at 212-559-0499.

You'll notice that that original reference was taken down and censored for being too bold, critical, and racy. Thank you for catching it and reposting for the rest of the group to be the judge of this censorship.

Fact checkers.... If I'm incorrect, out of line, or misinformed on any of my content, please let me know. I'm actually inviting all of you to verify the facts directly with Citibank on this annual fee issue - Don't just accept my word on it.

I would imagine the charging of an annual fee would severely hurt the Citi Sears card business.

Just to clarify, as I mentioned in a private message to you, I-Hate, the message was taken down because it contained personal contact information, which is not allowed on the board, per the terms of service.  I also let you know, that if you would like to repost your comments without the phone number, that would be acceptable.

I've saved as much as 50 percent, using the Craftsman Club Savers Days discount!

The key is finding a CC Flyer, ahead of time.

Thank you for your post. Just a few things:

1. It isn't "I hate" (I actually love most things, including Sears!). It's "I hate Citibank".

2. The phone number from the earlier post is found on Sears Card billing statements. Are we prohibited from assisting Sears cardholders from contacting customer service?

3. You didn't remove my post... You removed Omnomnom's post. Sorry Omnomnom!

Sorry about shortening the name!  It was just a bit easier to type : ).

The phone number which you included is a direct line to a Citibank representative, and, that would be considered prohibitive on the site. If it was not on this link, I know you did post this information on quite a few threads, and, those were removed.

OK, so back to the topic at hand - Annual Garbage Fees. I haven't heard anyone concerned about higher interest rates or reduced credit lines. Those irritants can be ignored. Taking $50 cash out of my pocket book cannot be ignored.

Citibank has been unwilling to step up and reverse their position on annual account greed fees. Therefore, what steps are being taken to replace this affinity card issuer?
