What will you be doing on Memorial Day.

I have to work but if I see any our our service personal I will thank them for their service.

If I am talking with a customer and learn they were once in the Service or a love one I will also thank them for their service.

Last but not least I will continue to pray for our men and women in uniform, our country, its leaders, all of it citizens, others of all countries, and the world's events, etc.

Those are some nice thoughts, birddog, for this coming Memorial Day.

We will be going to a BBQ, if the weather holds up, and just hanging around with some of our neighbors.  We will probably hit up a zoo sometime this weekend, too!

Hi Birddog, I think we'll spend a lot of time outdoors this weekend. If it's warm enough, we (hubby, kids, friends and I) might just head over to the beaches of Lake Michigan. That's one of my favorite things to do.

Last weekend, we got to see military aircraft and vehicles as part of military week. In fact, there was an Osprey that landed at Sears for associates to check out. Now THAT was cool!

Like you, and all Americans I'm very proud of our servicemen and women who give up a lot for our country. I don't personally know too many military folks, which is unfortunate because during my day to day goings on, I don't get to say "thanks" or understand what life is like for their families on a personal level. I hope to connect with more military folks in the community!

I'll be working. Which reminds me, I've got to start remembering to ask for donations for Heroes at Home. It's easy to forget, but we all have to do our part. By the way, our store is now collecting the soda bottles and cans from the break room and around the store and getting the refunds on them for the Heroes at Home campaign. Everyone can feel free to steal that idea if they haven't been doing it already.

Are you guys pretty busy, normally, on Memorial Day?  I worked in a big retail mall in Chicago for a long time, and we would be super busy, but, not until around 2 or so.  Always a slow morning, and then, boom, we would get slammed!

I get to see a good many of our Marines from time to time. My store is right off I 95 and we have a cluster of eatting places. There are sometimes as many as 4 to 5 bus loads of our Marines that stop at my exit and eat. I am on the path to Parris Island where   America's young men step of the bus onto the yellow footprints in hopes of earning their Eagle, Globe and Anchor as well as the privledge of becoming one of the FEW, THE PROUD, A MARINE. The Marines who also travel beween Camp Lejune and other bases up North also stop here for lunch/supper by the bus loads.  Having a son, who is now out of the Marines and home safely from back across the water I sometimes get a lump in my throat when I see the brave young men and women.

To all you Marines out there, their families as well as the parents of the Marines.

Sempi Fi and thank you for you service.

I also thank all of our other servce members and those who have served.

Lets us not forget what has been paid for our Freedom. The cost of our Freedom is high and we have a debt we can never repay.

All gave some and some gave ALL.

On another note, I have a high school friend whom I located through my high schools web site. He is serving in Africa in the US ARMY. I sent him a email thanking him and his men for their service and he replied back a big THANK YOU for remembering him and his men and they were appreciated of the thought.
