Kmart opened a new store on November 1, 2008 in Prattsville, AL to replace a store that was destroyed by a tornado.  You can see pictures of the new store at http://www.e-prattville.com/E-Prattville%202008%20Galleries/KmartReopening/index.html

Love the new color scheme!

The store looks great, and it makes me wonder when Kmart will commit to freshening up ALL their stores?  I fear that if a major, all inclusive overhaul isn't done soon Kmart may lose even more market share and eventually close.  I'd hate to lose my local Kmart, and while it is always clean and well stocked, I know that many others in Michigan are not. Lastly, even though my local Kmart is great on the inside, it has an extremely sad outside which I believe causes people to pass it by.  How about a new coat of paint to go with the new all lower case kmart sign?

I hear you loud and clear.  Looks are a big part of the retailing process.  People don't want to shop in a store that looks like it is on the verge of closing down any minute.  I have high hopes that Kmart will revitalize stores in the new year -- like you said, even a coat of paint would do wonders.  It's a capital expense, and in these uncertain economic times can be a big gamble -- but one that I think Kmart and Sears both need to invest in to get more customers in the door.

the colors are awful. im not sure if the combination of the red and blue on the overhead signing is suppose to show the meshing of Kmart and Sears or not but the whole thing looks like an old shopko. nice try, i guess.

From what you can see in the background the store looks clean and bright.  I'm sure the customers were happy to see it open once again.

Yes, it is clean and bright and I think that is why people are loving it.  Imagine if your Kmart store was that clean and bright.  It would probably be as busy as Wal-Mart.

Every day I look in the paper to see if Kmart is coming back to Columbia, MO with a new store.  I keep hoping to see those "bright" colors.

Yah the store looks amazing!  Great colors, bright atmosphere, it looked like the community flocked to the re-opening and I bet that it'll be one of the best performing K-marts in the state due to the new look and feel.
