That's great! Do you use it mostly for big purchases (ie appliances) or for just about everything you need at Sears?

Oh! We had an Associate that moved too much over 5 years.

From the parents, to his own apartment, to living with a girlfriend.

Sorry...

Credit denied.

Hi NewCustomer-There often is an annual fee on most credit cards.  It is pretty normal, and probably was in the paperwork she filled out.  If she calls,  she may be able to cancel it, and not have to pay that charge.

Are you sure she doesn't have a HSBC Sears Card?  The annual fee is highly possible.

Michelina,

Did Citi clear their actions of implementing $45 - $75 annual fees onto all Sears Charge Card Accounts, or is everyone at corporate as surprised as we all are? I imagine you can't confirm publicly the behind the scenes action of locating a replacment affinity card service provider, but we all hope to God that what Hoffman Estates is doing.... and fast!

Please flush these bafoons like yesterdays garbage!!!!

I-hate-Citibank,

Please do reach out to Citi with your concerns regarding the annual fee. The number is 1-800-669-8488. They will be able to assist you with any issues regarding your individual account.

Credit Expert,

I took your advice and called the 1-800 number you listed above to request Citi to restore my account terms to their present reasonable rate in lieu of their letter of intent on Jan. 1st to gouge me. Their answer was "Fall in line... " Suck up the new terms, or "Opt out" now and close the account that I've held for 21 years... That simple.

At least I was able to confirm that I wasn't singled out for a lapse in credit behavior. The CSR at Citi shared with me that Sears customers are calling in "by the hundreds", and closing their accounts when they learn from Citi that there are no options or choices to prevent the annual fee.

This lends the obvious question of why aren't there dozens of angry Sears cardholders on this Discussion blog up in arms about this subject, instead of the handful you see posted here? The biggest reason is that most Sears cardholders won't find out about the $40-$50 annual fee until it officially takes effect on January 1, 2010. You see, these new terms were disclosed last week in a "junk mail" style mailing, which the majority of recipients most likely discarded in the trash without paying attention to the new fine print that Citi used to justify their upcoming position, "Hey, we told them!".

So my point here is while your customer service phones may not be ringing off the hook at this moment about the subject, there's a storm front coming!

Bad news, folks! All of your Sears Mastercards are going away in three months, unless you're willing to pay up to $50 every year in annual fees to keep them.

Don't take my word on this, either check your mailbox or call Citibank. They mailed everyone official notices two weeks ago, but the envelope looks like "junk mail", and may have been thrown away. To be clear, this is not Sears fault. They're being hosed by the fine print of their contact and have no control over these renegades.

Just an update on the annual fee situation, folks. I just got off the phone with Citibank senior card supervisor Camile (ID JVI). She confirmed that the assessment of the $45 annual fee on my account isn't unique to me, or the result of anything thats come up in my credit history profile. She stated that the assesment of annual fees for Sears cardholders is across the board, and will take affect on January 1, 2010, unless Sears Corporate recinds the affinity card relationship and switches to another servicer, such as Chase or Bank of America.

I specifically requested that the annual fee be waived for may account due to my perfect credit history, and long-term account holder standing with Sears, and she said "No".

Confirmation of the annual fee policy for Citibank may be confirmed with PR manager Mr. Samuel Wong at 212-559-0499.

Wow! Has anyone phoned Citi yet to discuss this annual fee situation? They're extremely arrogant about this. They're trolling the line "Annual Fee? Everybody's doing that!".....

Msg. to Citi - No they're not... especailly on affinity cards, such as Sears!

312 - Oh, yeah. Turn on the TV or open the paper. It is on the media, alright. This story is being played on Fox News, CNN, and at least two articles that I've read in the Wall Street Journal, as if you care. Sears charge holders are being smeared by Citibank, that simple. Instead of getting the word out, you suggest "Just go away?"

Did you verify my story on the above post? If I'm mistaken, then correct me, debate me, or share your point of view with the discussion group. Just don't try to silence the numerous contributors on this thread because the heat of your petty bank fee schemes is getting too hot in here.

Hmm. So what's your motive for trying to tone down the story here? Could it be that you're comfortable with the new annual fee on your Sears Card? No, I don't think that's it... I'm willing to be that you don't even have a Sears charge card, right?

Corporate plant? Sure looks like it, Mr. Citibank!

lol i just want you to shut up and quit bumping 3 or 4 different treads just to say the same thing over and over.

and as far as citibank is concerend they can go fornicate them selves with a rusty railroad spike

also if you paid attention to the other threads, in fact i think its one of the ones your constantly bumping youd see i HAD a sears mastercard but they decided that they no longer wanted to let me have credit so being a mature resposible adult i paid the balance and took my business to anohter  company that gave me a hihger limit at a better intrest rate instead of crying over it in 6 different forum threads on the same site

Touche, you got me there! I certainly can't match the amount of free time it would take to scour and visit 30 or 40 discussion sites to tally statistics on which contributor posts on 3 or 4 releated threads that refer to the same subject. When I retire in a few years, it might be a different story though...

Great to see you've got a competitive rate charge card. Me too. Bank of America issued an "Accolades" AMEX card, $50,000 credit line, 12.4% fixed interest rate, no annual fee, a universal VIP airline lounge membership valued at $450 per year, and usage "reward points" for merchandise, gift cards, or cash. That's all really wonderful, but not at all the point of my posts...

The simple point I tried to communicate is, if Sears has an affinity chage card available and promoted in stores to their customers, make it available with fair, honest, and competitve terms they can be proud of. Examine these 3 or 4 related credit card term discussion threads and you'll see a dismal response pattern to this challenge... "Well, all banks are doing this now, so just close the account and ask for private financing or layway gimmicks" Is that excuse for a tag line really what we're reduced to here, folks? Sears has to have more corporate muscle than this, don't they?

Even with a big bully in the sandbox like Citibank, just kick sand in their face!

Sears,

Just another suggestion. I just purchased an Apple product, and they approved me for their affinity Visa Card, issued by Barclay's Bank. Guess what? No annual fee!

If a retailer the size of Apple finds Barclay's decent to work with and kind to their customers, how about replacing these dishonest and greedy Citibank folk?

dude citigroup is amazing. i don't know what your smokin' but this is the worlds largest bank and has some amazing years ahead of itself.

go buy their stock if you wanna get booya!! rich

Gulicious,

Yeah, that's right. Citibank has some great years ahead by gouging all Sears cardholders $50 annual greed fees. So tell me something, big Citi fan, will you be paying your annual fee in January on not (only by "Opting out" and closing your account)?

You state that Citibank is the "World's largest", and obviously the bank that Sears ought to partner with, no matter how poorly they handle Sears customers. Let's do a little present day fact checking on the latest "Worlds largest banks" assets:

1. Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, ICBC - Volume $277 Billion

2. Bank of America -  (Yes, a US affinity card issuing bank) Volume $196 Billion

3. HSBC Holdings of UK (Yes, a US affinity card issuing bank) - Volume $177 Billion

4. & 5. - More Chineese banks (lots of assets & volume, but no US card services, so who cares....)

6. JP Morgan Chase (The largest affinity card issuer since MBNA & First USA Bank went under - This should be Sears replacement for Citibank) - Volume $160 Billion

7. Citigroup (Yes, last year they were #1, but since their garbage loans were exposed and Uncle Sam had to prop them up, so they've slid a little. New power strategy - regain #1 spot by charging annual greed fees to millions of Sears card holders) - Present Volume $141 Billion and falling

8. Wells Fargo Bank (Another good replacement candidate for Citibank) - Volume $112 Billion

9. - 12. - More foreigners who don't issue US affinity cards (yawn!!!)

OK, no further commentary on these statistics. Let the facts speak for themselves.
