Sears and Kmart are really doing their part, this year, to help you budget for the holidays. The greatest thing about this: you get a 3% bonus on your card total!  The Christmas Club Card is an amazing option to help you save for those big ticket items, or, just your overall shopping.

Here is a blog with more details:

Thank you for sharing this. I used credit cards in the past. This year not buying much due to the economy, saving some money in savings account.

I understand that, busymom.  There are so many folks out there doing the same as you-this is the reason Sears introduced the Christmas Club Card.  Just to give another option to save for the holidays.

I agree, busymom.  I think many families will be cutting back this holiday season, I'm hoping to take advantage of the Christmas Club card for some of my holiday purchases!

Please correct me if I am wrong about the kmart Christmas Club card. The way I understand it is that  (for example) you give the company $100.00 and you get a cash card (sort of) and you hold or hide (try not to loose it) for three months and then you can use it to buy merchandise and it will then be worth a whopping $103.00. I don't get it. Why would anyone do that?

what is your question in reference to? Why would Sears give you 3% or why would a person put money into a 3% gaining gift card?

- I am usually pessimistic about any promotions or things but I must say, the idea behind this card is excellent. Kudos to the team who decided to do this. Lots of people want to save for the holiday season and this is the best way to gain some spending power by adding to this card. Fantastic.

Profitman-It is a way to save up for the holidays.  Lots of folks have a difficult time keeping money stowed away for the many purchases on Christmas lists.  This card lets them keep the money in one spot, the card, and allows the cardholder to add to it at any time in any increment.  The bonus of the program, is the cardholder will receive 3% of their total back on the card in November.  It is free money for saving money!
