Yeah your right little caesars does not make alot of money. Here in columbus ohio their used to be little caesars it almost all of kmarts. Since they closed 5 kmarts a little of little caesars got closed to. Recently they closed a little caesars with in a kmart here just to expand on their merchandise.

You are correct about the money. Kmart tried them back in the mid 90's and they went away. If you have enough volume you can make money or perhaps Kmart could sub lease space to them and the Kmart would have a figure it could count on for profit.

As a kid, one of my best memories is of going to Kmart in Maplewood, MO and eating in their Cafeteria.  This was the real deal folks -- a true cafeteria in the back of the Kmart store.  It could seat at least 50 easily and they would bring the food to your table after they cooked it.

Now, granted, it wasn't fancy food -- hamburgers, simple things, but it was fresh and really good.  It was always a treat to go to Kmart with mom and eat in the cafeteria!

(I always remember when Sears had a restaurant in it on the top floor -- but that is a story for another day!)

Yeah, I've also heard tell of Sears with salons in them. I've never seen one myself, but I have seen the Sears Optical, Photo, and MiracleEar centers.

I wonder how Wal-Mart is doing with Subway in their stores? unless they own them too or are subsizing the in-house sub eatery which is normally a franchise

I am not sure but I am sure that they are getting  top dollar for the use of their space plus additional dollars if the business goes above a sales goal.

The K-mart store near The Grove in California still has a LIttle Ceasers by it.

I remember Kmart having the best chopped ham sandwiches.  I would always take a sackful home as they were so cheap!

Bluecrew the reason why LIttle Ceasors weren't profitable was because the inability to manage them correctly. As with all food businesses you need to be running a very tight ship and/or high volume to make a profit. If you  are loose on anything you will see negative results immediately. There are Lil C's out there at the K's cause they are still very very profitable. Same concept goes with Auto centers :P Huge liability if run incorrectly, very profitable if run correctly.

They got rid of the Little Ceasers in all the K-marts near us about a year ago, because they wanted more room for merchandise. (And the current K-Cafe's in those stores have about three tables and six chairs tops, and a counter only slightly larger than one checkout line to work with.)

It's ashame. I too loved the days when we had the huge K-Cafe and could get pretty much anything you wanted to eat while you sat around waiting for a great blue light special. I got grumpy when they took those out, but when they put in the Little Ceasers it kinda made up for it for a while, i mean seriously - $5 for a large pizza! how can you beat that?

You should submit this as an Idea.

It's all about volume. Unfortunately, Kmart, and most Sears', just don't have the volume of customers to sell enough somewhat low margin pizzas to make the business model work. Plus, a lot of people want easy in/out to grab a $5 pizza, and you don't really get that with a big discount store.

How about a popcorn cart?

Or, some brewed/iced coffee for the employees (voucher system)?

Oh! Soft pretzels...

Ok. Not good to post about food - while hungry...

A local Ace has a popcorn cart on Saturdays, so why not? :-)

I remember when Sears had fresh popped corn (smelled so good throughout the store).  It also had a wonderful candy counter and a cafe!  Guess I am dating myself!

A nearby True Value hardware store has popcorn, too. Man, when that's cooking, all I can think about is getting some with a Coke. Is there anything better than fresh, hot, buttery, salty popcorn with a cold Coca-Cola?

My Kmart has nothing at all, not even a deli. Anything would be nice.
