I went to Sears in New Hyde Park to purchase an air matreress, long story short, i decided against the sale but the sales clerk forced me to go thru with the sale even though i did not want to purchase it.  He said it was the only way to void out the transaction.  After arrguing with him, i finally got a receipt.  Unfortuantely, the void is still pending and will for another 7 days!  Sears said the associate behind the register made a mistake and should have never went thru with the sale to void it out, but unfortuantely there was nothing they can do for me at this time.  I called the bank, they said that the Merchant can call them and have them remove the Authorization for that amount with the number they received, but Sears is unwilling to to so, so im stuck waiting 7 days for $200 for something i never purchased!  No one is even sorry for the mistake, nor did they offer anything to ease the inconvienience they caused.

I would urge everyone not to purchase a thing form Sears - because if you decide at the last minute not to purchase it, they will still take your money then not provide the customer service you deserve after such an error!

Hi DianeRomano-I am so sorry to hear that this occurred! Were you able to speak to a store manager?  Sounds like the associate who helped you might have been new, and not sure of the proper procedure!

Please keep us updated on your refund.  If that does not come back to you in the alloted time, there is a customer service team on the site who can look into it for you.

If you are using a credit card and are at the signature stage, or are using a check and are in the middle of processing the check, the transaction MUST be completed. The register does not allow for backing out in those situations. If this sounds like your situation, then please consider forgiving the associate, as the associate was in no way to blame, and the fact is the transaction did have to be completed to be voided.

I thought an immediate register "void" would prevent a charge from going through.

My mother-in-law is the same way. You would have to burn the store down, publicly execute the manager and give 5 times her money back before she would be happy, barely. "the sales clerk forced me to go thru with the sale even though i did not want to", was this the Hitler clerk? FORCED? Give me a break. No money changed hands, you just have less credit on your card for a brief amount of time, same thing would have happened at wallymart except you would of had to go to the sevice desk. And of course you would have had to go back to wallyworld because the item you purchased would have failed 2 days after you bought it. You would have soo much to talk about!

in cases of using a bank debit card and a completed transaction then person for some reason decides then not to purchase,  your funds on the bank debit card are automatically held "can be held up to 72 hours" - legally .

Unless customer calls their bank explans situation and perhaps the bank may then request cancellation notification by the retailer usually on a company letterhead  by a fax that is sent directly from retailer to the bank with copy of void sales check and any other required data by the bank is one way to release your funds quicker.

DianaRomanoEscobar, completely understand why you'd be frustrated. The best thing you can do when this is about to happen is to ask to speak to a manager. Sales clerks have to go by the book and tend to make mistakes while the manager may have some special code sometimes to unlock certain stuff or simplify the transaction.

I purchased all sears appliances for my home and my kenmore products lasted longer than I lived in the house. they survived being carted to new places by my son, and i have been pretty surprised at the mileage you can get out of them.
