That is a semi-common problem during assembly. The chute can get in the way, offering only a tight space to force the clip to snap in to place.
Once snapped in to place though, there is no reason it should come off. I've had customers buy assembled models, it not fit under their trucks topper, and need to take the chute back off. It took some serious leveraging with a screwdriver to get the clips back out.
Hopefully whoever assembled it for you was smarter then to leave one loose, though I do think that that's more likely then having one break, as I've never encountered that. Especially after so few uses.
The rep you talked to should have described the problem in the service order. Hopefully it's a quick fix that they're prepared for and they won't need to come back out after ordering parts!
