You used to go there all the time. What changed? Why don't you find yourself in the Kmart checkout lane as regular as before. Did you change or did Kmart change?

I don't shop at KMart in MA because I know of only one and it is miles away from where I live. The quality used to be terrible. I was impressed with some of the items in the Burbank, CA store. They looked good!

Kmart store #9600 needs a new electric powered chair.  The one that they have now is woefully outdated and lacks braking power.  Also, it would be nice to see ice sold in the store as many people ask for it on a daily basis.  No ice=no sale.

Thanks for posting this - I'm forwarding your note to our Store Operations team who can fix this. I'll let you know what I find out.

I've heard back and they are looking into the orders that were placed for this and other stores to make sure the items that were planned for replacement do get replaced. Thanks for letting us know!

I will be honest here.  The hours.  The 2nd nearest K-Mart to my house is across the street from a WalMart.  The WalMart opens at 6AM.  The K-Mart 8AM.  I am an early morning person & will stop & do my shopping 1st thing in the morning on my way to work, which I start 8AM.  The K-Marth there did experiment with open at 7AM for a short time, when they were open at 7AM I was able to stop & shop and still be to work on time.  The one closest to my house is also 8AM.

I live close to Easley, SC.  There is a Kmart on one end of the town and a Walmart on the other.  Both are older stores and I would prefer shopping at Target but that store is over an hour away.  I normally shop at Walmart because the Kmart in Easley needs a good cleaning with lots of soap and water.  Everything seems dirty starting with the shopping carts and the floors.  Desperately the floors.  I have to say though the bathrooms are actually pretty clean in Kmart, much cleaner than any Walmart we go in to.

all I see in these blogs is how the customer is not being treated fairly? How about giving some respect to the overworked, underpaid, and very stressed employee,, respect and curtisy are a two way street....

I can only comment on the few in the region where I live, but they all have the same problems, Dirty store, messy and cluttered aisles, very slow cashiers and insane wait times in check out lines. The main issues I have are the dirty store and long waits to cash out. I never go there anymore during the holiday seasons due to the wait. Why have ten lanes and only one clerk? Granted most people in my area no longer shop there for the same reasons, but it seems like a little effort on the part of the corporation could correct these issues. Our local sears is just appliances and lawn mowers, seems like a waste to call it a Sears store.

Kmarts in Staten Island NY need total redos not just paint jobs which look subpar.
New carts, brighten the store front and get rid of those g-d awful free publication racks. Clean up the stores and order enough stock especially when sales come about. Get rid of the dump bins and use REAL shelves...theres more but I
concede. Stop serving customers that no longer shop at Kmart, who wants
1960's kitchen aprons and moo, moos for cryting out loud.

All the KMarts in my area dried up and blew away.

There ARE 4 Sears in the area.

The one Big KMart I've found is a 4 hour drive away. - Love their soft pretzels...

Yes. They need to be even cheaper than Wal-Mart, with even higher quality. If Wal-Mart is cheap with low quality, and you want K-Mart to be cheaper than Wal-Mart...well, I think you can do the math. :)

A customer stopped me in our Kmart store Saturday morning and told me that our store was one of the nicest and cleanest Kmarts she had been in and that she would definitely be back.  I love to start out my day that way.  I am always impressed when a customer takes time out of their very busy day to stop and tell me how much they enjoyed our store. Luv it!

I almost have no problems with Kmart. It's not perfect, but stop complaining. Move over to MyKmart. (same log in) Why does everyone think Kmart is so bad? Also, it's the same company, you are also making fun of Sears!

The Kmart near our home went out of business last year. I went there occasionally but it was just nasty..it was dirty and the groceries were frequently past their pull date. When I would bring that to the attention of the employees they just shrugged... for what it's worth, I don't go to Walmart either. I shop for groceries at major chain grocery stores that still pay their employees a living wage and benefits, to me it's worth the extra few dollars I spend to keep local people in decent jobs.

All the Kmarts in our city shut down a few years ago. We had several BigK's and a Super Kmart--they all closed. Now the closest Kmart is in a small town 20 miles to the south. That's why we don't shop at Kmart anymore.

so, is there any really nice big K situations going on, anywhere in the us of a? this is red flag stuff to me. Fix these stores fast, or I will just avoid shopping there out of spite.

In the area I live in, it's usually easier shopping at Kmart than shopping at the local Walmart.  You have to go across the bridge to Columbus to get to larger stores and malls.  Of the two major stores in Phenix City, you only have Walmart and Kmart to choose between.  There are a few smaller stores, like Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Freds.

I HATE, HATE, HATE going to Walmart.  It is ALWAYS packed, unless you go at two in the morning, ALWAYS understaffed, and a mess.  But, the problem I encounter with Kmart is they don't have a lot of the things you need and can only get at Walmart and if you do find it the prices are much higher too!

Also, the products Kmart offers are slipping.  Last year I purchased a brand new Kenmore Air conditioner.  I purchased the extended warranty.  Within one year, with normal use (the air conditioner still LOOKED brand new) it totally quit working. (I bought it May 2008, it quit working July 2009)  So, I called in the warranty information number for the warranty that I paid an extra 20.00 dollars for at the register that was supposed to cover everything (according to the cashier who sold it to me) and the gentleman on the phone told me that the warranty ran concurrent with the manufacturers warranty, and that the air conditioner was not covered!! I am out over 200.00.  I thought this can't be right, what's the point of buying a warranty that runs the same as the manufacturers warranty, so I called in again,  and was switched from person to person to person.  When I finally got through to someone, the line magically "disconnected"!  So, I had to purchase another air conditioner anyway. I could not even get them to send me the parts for the air conditioner (which should have been under warranty, for total repair in my home) so that I could fix it myself!  Therefore, I won't be buying anymore appliances from KMart. I went online and there were SO MANY blogs identical to this, I know that I am not alone.  It is hurting Kmart the way they are conducting business, and they don't seem to care!

Hi Mossbrick-Welcome to MySears!  There is an board identical to this one called MyKmart.com.  A main purpose of both of these boards is to hear from loyal customers to see where Sears and Kmart can improve.  Your experience, and those of the members, are an important part of the process.  They care enough about their shoppers to have these boards to learn about the good and the bad.

I would like to shop at Kmart, but theres only one here in the city. If they opened one closer to where I live, I would. Too bad they all shut down, so I just go to Wal Mart = /

Simple answer on this one - Kmart (or Super-K, as it was for my location) moved away.  It now has become much more of a challenge to hunt down a Kmart in the areas I've lived in since the "great shutdown".  I certainly didn't mind SuperK giving Wallyworld (walmart) a run for it's money, but they just aren't nearby anymore.  No need to run over to the "K" when just about every other retailer is available much closer for me.
