Why do you think the solenoid is bad? Have you jumped across it? Have you checked the fuse?

I am about to have the same fun...  I plan to take a wire off the old one, put it in the same place on the new one then repeat.  I had to take my fuel tank off and set it aside to be able to have some working room.

As for making sure its bad - I am using an Ohm-meter to test across it with power disconnected - should be below 200 Ohms (from what I've read....)

Does the connection to the chassis make a big difference?  I disconnected from the chassis and now it won't even turn over or "click" - I could have simply had a loose ground???
