Put a "50 LDC TVson lay a way  on-line

the next week there was a better sale on a better tv ,i went to the store to transfer my lay a way to the other tv,  the sales person told me i cant transfer the lay a way with out  paying a $10 cancelation fee and a $5 non refundable fee

long story short  i didn`t  get the other TV

so i took the $15 loss and left the store

Note:  they will try to offer your refund in a gift card or check, i told them i paid with a credit card and want my refund placed back on my card or i don't want a gift card because i don't want to make any purchases here any more ,we went back and fort with that till i asked for customer service after 13 minuets the CS rep came and issued my refund in cash Minus the $15 in fees

What a rip off

Next time, read what you sign, its there in black and white, but the salesperson should have explained the details.

I am not sure why layaway is coming back. Simply set the money aside at home or a bank, save up and then make the purchase. I can understand maybe wanting to lock in a sale price, but stores run sales everyday. Another sale will be along shortly. I think the main issue is that people don't have control of their money and can hold on to it.

You got me...I didn't read your post carefully but here it is:

SEARS ONLINE LAYAWAY AGREEMENT
1.
This layaway is subject to a non-refundable layaway initiation fee set forth on your layaway receipt. No partial pick-up or partial cancellations.
2.
Layaways which are delinquent in payments by more than 7 days may be cancelled by Sears. $10.00 cancellation fee will be charged on layaways that are cancelled, refunded or which are delinquent in payments by more than 7 days (10 days for OH and RI, 15 days for MD). MD, OH, and RI, cancellation fee is $10 or 10% of total merchandise cost, whichever is less.

ALSO:

6.
Price adjustments cannot be facilitated online. For in-store price adjustments, no adjustments after 30 days from layaway initiation date. Multiple price adjustments on the same item not permitted. Price adjustments not allowed on clearance merchandise.
